In football, extra time is when a match is decided through clarity, energy, and the ability to read the game. The same principle applies to companies operating within the sports supply chain: those who are first to interpret market shifts turn a period of uncertainty into a competitive advantage.
It is from this core concept that "Tempi supplementari: i trend dello sport e le opportunità per le imprese e le startup" (Extra Time: Sports Trends and Opportunities for Businesses and Startups) was created. Promoted by the Turin Chamber of Commerce within the framework of SFS26, the event is scheduled for November 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Allianz Stadium in Turin (Innovation Stage, Sala Boniperti).
The meeting aligns seamlessly with the driving themes of Summit 2026: technology, artificial intelligence and data economy, future stadium infrastructures, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. The goal is to translate these overarching trends into concrete tools for entrepreneurs: dedicated services, business networks, guidance programs, and tangible market opportunities.
A supply chain backed by years of Chamber support
Sport is an economic sector that the Turin Chamber of Commerce has continuously supported over time. Through BizUp Sport—a business development initiative backed by the Piedmontese chamber system—companies across the supply chain (from sportswear and equipment to cycling, outdoor gear, tennis, and padel) receive guidance on technological, digital, and green innovation, as well as international expansion.
The initiative brings together a wide range of specialized expertise. Material innovation for sportswear and equipment is studied alongside the Comfort Lab of Politecnico di Torino; meanwhile, design becomes a strategic driver for launching innovation processes in partnership with FabLab Torino and Circolo del Design. Participating businesses can also access preferential conditions for MOVE X, the new regional sports and wellness innovation hub established in Ivrea through a protocol signed by CONI Piemonte, Politecnico di Torino, Sport Innovation Hub, and C.NEXT.
Over the years, the Chamber has consistently integrated sports business topics into major local events. On the occasion of the Nitto ATP Finals, it hosted sessions dedicated to the sports industry, including an in-depth exploration of artificial intelligence applications in tennis and intellectual property protection.
The PID and the twin transition
Alongside sector-specific initiatives, the Chamber provides businesses with access to the PID – Punto Impresa Digitale (Digital Enterprise Hub), a chamber system structure dedicated to guiding micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises through the digital and green transition.
For a sports business, navigating the twin transition means using data to better understand athletes, fans, and consumers; introducing artificial intelligence into operational processes; and reducing the environmental footprint of products, facilities, and events. The PID supports this pathway by offering digital maturity assessment tools, orientation, training, and information on funding measures, including vouchers for green and digital transformation.
This free, locally grounded support is tailored especially for smaller enterprises that often possess competitive ideas and products but lack the internal resources to face structural change alone.
A gateway to Europe: The Enterprise Europe Network
The Turin Chamber of Commerce serves as a node for Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Italy, an initiative backed by the European Commission to foster innovation and internationalization among SMEs. The Chamber coordinates the ALPS consortium, the regional EEN benchmark for North-West Italy, which unites institutional and associative partners across Piedmont and Liguria for the 2025–2028 period.
For sports businesses, access to this European network translates into finding commercial and technological partners abroad, participating in B2B matchmaking sessions, and receiving guidance on EU regulations and funding opportunities. Within this framework, the Chamber—together with Unioncamere Piemonte—brought the international matchmaking meetings of the Torino Sport & Fashion Match to Turin, listed on the official European EEN Sport Itinerary calendar dedicated to the sports ecosystem. Additionally, in collaboration with EEN, CONI, and the Sport Innovation Hub, it organized high-level sports business panels during the Nitto ATP Finals.
Why attend
The November 10 session is designed for sports supply chain companies, startups, industry professionals, and operators eager to analyze sector trends and learn about public tools available to accelerate their growth: supply chain initiatives, twin transition services, and internationalization networks.
The panel’s title resonates deeply with SFS ExtraTime, the football and sports industry innovation program that stands as one of the central pillars of the Summit. The core message remains clear: the innovation match continues well beyond the ninetieth minute, and victory comes from teamwork between institutions, enterprises, and startups.
