The Role of Artificial Intelligence in football
The technological development of recent years, and the increasingly prominent role of artificial intelligence, have gradually impacted the football industry as well. This will be one of the main topics at the Social Football Summit 2024, scheduled for November 19 and 20 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
The panel will feature Infront (a partner in past editions as well) and Reply, an Italian consulting firm specializing in digital services applications.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is steadily gaining ground in the football landscape, influencing aspects such as the managerial and commercial management of clubs, scouting and recruitment activities (beneficial for scouts), and the simulation of matches and game situations to test various tactical strategies during training.
However, the connection between AI and football goes beyond the technical dimension, becoming a fundamental player from an economic and cultural perspective. The data industry is indeed the business of the future, with vast investment opportunities in predictive tools and effective statistical models with diverse capabilities. Fans themselves have been swept up in this tech-cultural revolution, with increasingly immersive experiences and content tailored to their preferences, ticket or merchandise suggestions, and activities aimed at boosting engagement.
Infront itself has been involved in sports content automation for some time, with studies and analyses on the subject. Reply, on the other hand, has developed AISportsWatch: a system that leverages AI targeting both fans and clubs. It aims to enhance the viewing experience for fans by relying on Google Cloud infrastructure and collects data on what happens on the field, helping clubs refine their training strategies or identify areas needing improvement.
In light of all this, the upcoming event will be valuable for analyzing these topics in detail and discussing them with industry experts. A useful and educational opportunity to enhance professional skills and understand the new dynamics of one of the most important industries in the world.
