What economic impact does the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have on the city of London?
The new Spurs facility generates an economic impact of €652.8 million, hosting around 50 events per year.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is demonstrating its full capacity to be multifunctional.
In addition to football matches and numerous concerts, it has already hosted National Football League (NFL) games, rugby, and boxing matches.
50 Events Per Year
It is expected that up to 50 events can be held in a single calendar year.
“The increase in the importance of Tottenham Hotspur leads to an increase in the organization of various events,” the club explains.
The stadium has already hosted the NFL for a total of eight seasonal games as part of a partnership extending until the 2029-2030 season.
It has also hosted European and national rugby league finals, world boxing championships, and concerts by famous artists such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, among others.
Impact on the London Economy
A recent study by consulting firm EY revealed that the stadium contributes approximately £900 million (€1.049 billion) gross to the London economy, generating an additional £560 million (€652.8 million) for the British capital.
The study also highlighted some of the benefits that Tottenham’s stadium will bring in the near future. Firstly, €404.6 million in gross added value represents the impact on the surrounding areas of the three boroughs of Haringey, Enfield, and Waltham Forest.
On the other hand, the socio-economic impact of the stadium is expected to continue growing in the coming years, with an estimated gross added value of €688 million.
The hope is that by the 2026-2027 season, it will create new jobs, up to a total of 3,700 positions.
The London club emphasized that “the organization of major non-football events throughout the year also creates additional recurring revenue streams that the club can reinvest in its footballing activities.”
